EXPLORE

Ha Long Bay

A World Heritage Site recognized twice by UNESCO and Vietnam’s most celebrated natural treasure, Halong Bay has been inspiring poets, dreamers, writers, artists, and photographers for thousands of years. Located within the bay itself, our hotel is located on Tuan Chau, an island that is connected to the mainland by a causeway and the most convenient jumping-off point from which to explore the bay.

From the emerald green waters on which glide brilliant blue fishing boats, to the deep orange sunsets that morph into an enigmatic purple, the vast spectrum of color in Halong Bay remains unsurpassed. Towering and jungle-topped, karst formations jut dramatically from the ocean- a suitable playground for monkeys and a nesting ground for soaring birds of prey.

Just as it was two centuries before, the best way to discover Halong Bay is by cruise, whether it is one day, two days, three days, or more. However long you plan to stay in Halong Bay, our ideal location and luxury facilities make it the perfect choice to explore Vietnam’s most impressive natural wonder.

Local Markets

The local markets around Halong Bay are extremely vibrant, thanks in part to the abundance of fish in the waters that surround. Bai Chay Market is close by and is a weird and wonderful world of edible creatures from the sea. A little further afield and close to the Quang Ninh Museum, Hon Gai also makes for a fascinating visit, especially first thing in the morning. This is when colorful fishing boats moor right next to the market and hawk their offerings!

We recommend that the markets are visited as part of a city tour that also takes in Quang Ninh Museum.

Quang Ninh Museum

Striking architecture situated on a long coastline of colorful fishing boats, Quang Ninh Museum is Vietnam’s most eye-catching modern construction and has attracted attention for its daring design. With a jet-black exterior inspired by the coal industry, still a vital part of the province economy, the presence contrasts artistically with the hues of Halong Bay.

Within the museum, each hall is differently themed providing stark variety as you move through the museum. Discover the fascinating geology of Halong Bay, together with the history, flora, fauna, and ethnology of the province. Antique selections from across East Asia effectively frame the history and culture of eastern civilization.

We recommend that Quang Ninh Museum is visited as part of a city tour that also takes in the local markets.

Yen Tu Pagoda

Up high in the mountains and sandwiched in between Hanoi and Halong Bay, Yen Tu Pagoda is one of Vietnam’s great Buddhist pilgrimage sites – yet it sees very few foreign visitors. Yen Tu Pagoda dates back to at least the thirteenth century, when king Tran Nhan Tong retired to the mountain to become a Buddhist monk.

Other than the historical significance of the site, the views of the surrounding countryside and mountains are also impressive - Yen Tu Mount sits at 1,068 meters above sea level. The sheer height means that even when the lowlands are roasting hot, the mountain can be cool and fresh.

We offer personal tours offered daily that could also be combined with the transfer between Hanoi and Halong Bay. We provide experienced guides so that not only will you be able to enjoy the beautiful surrounding environment, but you will also get to know the history of this important area. Yen Tu Pagoda is about 90 minutes away by car.

Bai Tu Long

Bai Tu Long Bay occupies three quarters of Halong Bay World Heritage site, as well as many islands in Van Don, Cam Pha District. Travelling to Bai Tu Long Bay is off the beaten track and promises to deliver many unique experiences, far from the heavily touristic sites.

In this big area, visitors can find pristine natural landscapes. Even now, Bai Tu Long remains an extensive unexplored area. In some ways it is actually more stunning than Halong Bay, since it is only in its initial stages as a destination for travelers. Bai Tu Long has many attractions to visit: Cong Do area, Vung Vieng fishing village, Da Xep Park, Cong Dam areaThien Canh Son cave and Tra Gioi beach.
